A clear comparison
Photo booth or portrait booth: what is the difference?
Both give guests a photography activity during an event. A traditional booth normally captures and prints a repeated layout immediately. MyPortraitBooth adds theme selection, a staffed creation and review step, guest approval, and a full 6×8 finished portrait.
01
The guest interaction
At a traditional booth, guests usually choose props or a backdrop, pose for a short sequence, and receive a strip or digital file. The interaction is intentionally quick and repeatable.
At MyPortraitBooth, guests browse numbered portrait themes, choose alone or with a group, and step into the lights for a photograph. They return to the event while the portrait is created and reviewed, then see it before printing.
02
The finished result
Classic booths commonly produce strips or postcard layouts with repeated frames and event branding. MyPortraitBooth's hero format is one clean full 6×8 portrait in a protective sleeve. Event branding can be planned on presentation materials rather than forced across every private-event portrait.
03
Choice and assistance
A standard booth often offers a small group of backgrounds or visual treatments. MyPortraitBooth has more than 2,100 numbered ideas across elegant portraits, eras, sports, places, paintings, fantasy, music, cinematic scenes, family concepts, and playful themes.
Guests can browse by QR before or during the event, use the printed collection, or ask the founders to help narrow the options. The live interaction remains a prepared-reference workflow rather than open-ended prompt writing in the event line.
04
Which one suits your event?
Choose a traditional booth when repeated instant snapshots, props, GIFs, or a familiar strip are the priority. Consider MyPortraitBooth when you want guests to have more visual choice, personal help, a review step, and a larger portrait to take home.
Neither format replaces the event photographer. They are guest activities with different purposes and outputs.
Questions hosts ask
Practical answers before you book
Does a portrait booth replace the wedding photographer?+−
No. The wedding or event photographer documents the celebration. MyPortraitBooth is a separate guest activity and print experience.
Are the portraits created instantly?+−
Guests return to the event after being photographed. The team creates and reviews the portrait before showing it for approval and printing, so it is not an automatic strip-style output.
Can guests still be silly or take group pictures?+−
Yes. Guests can choose playful themes and participate alone, as a couple, or as a group. The photographed people remain the only people included in their portrait.
Does each group receive only one print?+−
No. The planned initial print quantity is one full 6×8 copy for every person pictured in the group.
